When Ronnie Watson and Steve Matthews first came to Emerald Isle, they came by ferry or private boat because there was no bridge and at that time Highway 58 did not run the length of the island. As the area grew, Ronnie Watson became mayor and since that beginning, the Emerald Isle and Atlantic Beach area has continued to grow and is one of the top family beaches on the East Coast.
In 1978 Ronnie and Steve formed Watson-Matthews Real Estate and joined in the residential development of our Emerald Isle. They were the developers of several residential subdivisions including Lands End, Emerald Plantation and played a part in the development of Emerald Landing, Royal Oaks, Dolphin Ridge and several others.
Watson-Matthews Real Estate is currently involved in several property developments such as Bell Cove Village, Bell Cove Estates and Morada Bay. Other properties are in the plans for development in the near future.
Watson-Matthews is a full service real estate company involved in residential property, building lots, land and commercial sales in and around western Carteret County. With four licensed brokers handling residential listings, land sales and one commercial specialist, we are small enough to give personal attention to each client yet experienced enough to handle all types of property sales.
